Kristapher Gulley was on the FIU basketball court this year being honored as part of Conference USA's All-Academic Team. On Saturday, Gulley was behind bars in Miami accused of strong-arm robbery.

Gulley was also charged with marijuana possession, but no further details of the arrest were not available on Saturday.

(Update: 11/9) According to a Miami-Dade police report, Gulley shoved a mail carrier against a U.S. Postal Service vehicle and "snatched" a package he claimed was his before jumping into an SUV which "sped off." The incident began after the mail carrier was asking Gulley for proper identification, police say. Gulley admitted to police he snatched the package and "that it was wrong," but said he didn't touch the carrier.

The incident took place at the San Marco apartment complex, 8870 Fontainebleau Blvd. in Miami.

According to FIU's website, Gulley is pursuing a master's degree in criminal justice. He started 27 games for the Panthers during his 2014-2015 senior season.

FIU did not respond when asked to comment.
