Exclusive: Miami woman drinks vodka shots, crashes car with infant inside, police say

By: Andy Slater

An early morning of drinking led to a crash, and it all involves an infant.

Police arrested Jacqueline Llanes, 32, after she crashed her car into a mailbox and a parked car, and then tried to run off. This happened just after 10 a.m. on Wednesday. Llanes was charged with driving under the influence.

Llanes wasn't alone in the car. Police say she had an infant with her.

A witness told an officer that he found the infant on the floor of the car's backseat, the exclusively-obtained report says.

The infant was treated by Miami-Dade Fire Rescue and was released to her biological father.

According to the report, Llanes told police that "she was coming from work, where she cleans homes, and was consuming vodka shots."

Police say Llanes had bloodshot eyes, slurred speech, and refused a breath test.

The incident took place at NW 88th Avenue and 112th Street in Hialeah Gardens.

Llanes was also arrested for DUI in 2008. She was found guilty and has yet to pay the fine, court records show.

Besides currently facing another DUI charge, Llanes was also charged with knowingly driving with a suspended license and child neglect.

Llanes was taken to jail and released Thursday on $5,000 bond.
