MLB players can now win a Bentley at Marlins Park

By: Andy Slater

Any MLB player who steps into the batter's box at Marlins Park can now win a brand new Bentley.

Winning the $300,000 luxury vehicle is obviously not going to be easy.

A player who hits any part of the "O" in the new "Monster" electronic sign in centerfield wins the "Baller Bentley."

The Marlins teamed up with Monster Products for the giveaway. Monster recently formed a partnership with the car manufacturer.

Hitting the sign during batting practice will not count.

Exclusive: Man bitten by snake at Disney World

By: Andy Slater

A man was bitten by a snake Wednesday morning while watching his son play baseball at Disney's ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex.

"The snake came out from under the bleachers, crawled up my leg, and bit the [expletive] out of my hand," West Palm Beach resident Carlos Carles said after exclusively sharing pictures with me.

Carles, 52, was stepping on the snake for at least 25 minutes waiting for "an Animal Kingdom guy," he said. "I didn't want a kid to get bit and no one working there wanted anything to do with it."

All activity on the baseball field was stopped after the incident, Carles explained.

A Disney representative wrapped Carles' hand while the snake was still under his foot, he said.

"I was where I was supposed to be," Carles said. "My hand stings and hurts badly."

Those who aren't lucky enough to set off the home-run sculpture will still be able to enjoy complimentary food and beverages while watching the MLB All-Star festivities on the Marlins' big screen.

For more information on the event, contact the Marlins at 305-480-2521 or via email at seasontickets@marlins.com.

Duke Johnson wishes he was at UM playing for Mark Richt

By: Andy Slater

The University of Miami's all-time leading rusher, Duke Johnson, wishes he was still playing for the Hurricanes now that Mark Richt is their head football coach.

"I definitely wish I could have been in college...just to play with the guys that are still there, but also get a new outlook on football from a different coach just to see where he's taking these guys," Johnson said when asked Thursday on my weekday radio show on 940-AM WINZ and iHeartRadio.

Johnson also discussed the way he sees Johnny Manziel, his belief on why Miami fired Al Golden, his rooting interest in the NBA Finals, and his inaugural 7-on-7 football challenge in South Florida.

You can hear the entire interview here.
