A Miami man paid $500,000 to get popular video-game systems. Police say the only games being played were with his money.

According to an exclusively-obtained warrant, Hernan Varela made a deal to buy 5,850 Xbox consoles from Sly Garcia, owner of Games Boutike in Doral.

After giving Garcia a $150,000 check and wiring him another $350,000, Varela waited for the video-game systems to be delivered, the warrant says.

Police say the only two things Varela received since ordering the consoles in 2014: Excuses and worthless refund checks.

Miami-Dade Police continued to investigate Garcia's business deal until early November when an arrest warrant was issued.

Garcia was arrested and taken to jail on Monday. He's charged with organized fraud and first-degree grand theft. His bond is set at $200,000.
