EXCLUSIVE: Marlins botch Venezuelan heritage jersey giveaway

¡Ay, Dios mío!

The Miami Marlins Venezuelan Heritage night will not go exactly as planned.

The Marlins advertised both on social media and their official website that they would be giving away an exclusive Martin Prado Venezuelan heritage jersey.

However, the team will not be able to give the jerseys out because they had the wrong country's flag on it.

The team was tweeting about the special jersey as early as 10 hours before game-time.

The error on the jersey was not noticed until a few hours before the gates at Marlins Park opened, sources say.

Friday’s game would have been even more special because Prado is set to return to action for the first time since May 7.

This is not the first time the team has had a gaffe involving a heritage night.

The Marlins once honored infielder Mike Jacobs on Jewish Heritage night, even though, Jacobs is not Jewish.

A portion of ticket sales for Friday’s game are meant for Venezuelan charities.
