Florida Turnpike

Deadly wrong-way crash by Miami man was planned

Sunday night's deadly wrong-way crash on Florida's Turnpike in Broward was planned out by the 26-year-old driver who died on the scene.

Miami Beach resident Tzvi Ference wrote on Friday night that he was determined to get onto the Florida Turnpike, drive the wrong way, and crash his car head-on into a truck.

According to Florida Highway Patrol, that's exactly what Ference did late Sunday night.

Ference also made a post claiming he was looking for mental help from Temple Emanu-El in Miami Beach, but was banned from the synagogue and would be arrested if he tried to go.

The deadly crash happened just south of Griffin  Road on the southbound lanes of the Florida Turnpike.

The driver of the semi-truck and his passenger were not injured.
