EXCLUSIVE: Second banner plane bought for Florida Panthers’ home finale

By: Andy Slater

It’s been a banner two seasons for the Florida Panthers.

Last year, the Panthers hung a division championship banner inside the BB&T Center.

This year, the Panthers will have a second banner plane flying above the arena.

I have exclusively-obtained the receipt for Saturday’s banner of support.

The above message is scheduled to fly for 15 minutes at 6:15 p.m.

The person at the center of the plan chooses to remain anonymous.

That fan reached out to me after I wrote an article last week about the initial banner plane.

That plane had a message mocking head coach Tom Rowe and the firing of previous coach Gerard Gallant..

Rowe is expected to be fired after Sunday’s road finale.

The interim coach was asked about the banner this week and joked that he was glad for the interest and wished the fans would buy tickets in Club Lexus instead.

The person leading the movement is a big South Florida sports fan.

He has season tickets to other teams as well.

He told me that the Anti-Rowe banner was originally supposed to fly during the Chicago Blackhawks game on March 25, but was scrapped for weather.

He didn’t realize this would get so much attention.

He and other season ticket holders pooled their money.

This time, they wanted to do it to show appreciation for the franchise.
