The Miami Marlins will have a new look, and a version of it may be out before the team wants it to be.
On Monday, I exclusively reported that the team was changing their logo.
“Marlins Network,” a fan account on Instagram, posted a picture on Tuesday of a logo saying “I believe this is it.”
Late Tuesday night, a handful of industry sources told me that this new, leaked logo is the one that’s been described to them and also seen by some.
One source said, “it’s legit.”
UPDATE 10/17: Hat with legit logo, according to source, tweeted by CBS Miami’s Mike Cugno.
UPDATE 11/5: Marlins post pic below on social media and write “OurColores”
There are several options that the Marlins and MLB have been exchanging, according to another source.
I was able to exclusively obtain another version of the logo that was submitted for approval. This is one of several proposed looks, a source says.
Another proposed look has “a blue marlin going through a more cursive M,” a source says.
On Tuesday, the Miami Herald reported that the Marlins also won approval to move their home run sculpture from inside Marlins Park to outside.
It’s part of Derek Jeter and the new ownership group’s intention of distancing themselves from the previous group led by Jeffrey Loria.
