The son and daughter-in-law of legendary football coach Howard Schnellenberger are both behind bars.
Tim Schnellenberger and his wife Anyssa face 22 counts of patient brokering at the rehabilitation center he founded and runs in Delray Beach.
Both were also charged with two counts of conspiring to commit patient brokering.
Patient brokering is widespread in Florida, even though it’s illegal. It’s when someone receives a kickback for referring a patient to a treatment center.
In 2015, Tim opened up the Recovery Boot Camp.
His father Howard, the former football coach, recently started ‘The Schnellenberger Family Foundation,’ with his wife, Beverlee, and Tim. The foundation’s website says it addresses the needs of addicts families.
Howard and Tim discussed the foundation during an appearance on WPTV in Palm Beach County in September.
Tim and his wife are being held on $72,000 bond each.
Howard Schnellenberger is a former Don Shula assistant coach. He led the University of Miami to the National Championship in 1983 and built the football program at Florida Atlantic University.
